Jess Carter Sings at the Gig on the Grass August 11

Jess Carter’s voice is one of the purest, sweetest, and honest vocals to come along in a long time. Also an accomplished songwriter, Jess catalogs more than 100 compositions. In fact, the first “song” she wrote she randomly tapped out on an old Olympic typewriter at the age of four.
Gaining her influence from a variety of genres, Jess enjoys music of all sorts. From this diversity of music, she formulates some of her strongest melodies, her innovative progressions, and her impressive lyrics, Jess completed her finest work with eight time, #1 songwriter Rivers      Rutherford. She has also been involved in several songwriting seminars where she has enjoyed making connections with the music industry’s most prominent songwriters.

She attended Belmont University, studying music industry topics and completed online courses with Berklee School of Music. Jess has taken many lessons with Nashville’s renowned vocal coach, Renee Grant   Williams, who has coached such stars, and favorites of Jess, as Natalie Maines and Keith Urban. Jess has been in production with Nashville’s Grammy Award winning producer Mark Lambert.

She has performed her songs at numerous “gigs” including Tootsie’s  Orchid Lounge in downtown Nashville. Her latest songs “Completely” and “Stretch”, co-written with Rivers Rutherford, were performed on stage at the Bluebird Café, and opened for Chris Janson and Easton Corbin. As an already accomplished performer, with a natural spark to her stage presence, Jess enjoys the interaction and the challenges that go with live performance. She is performing with the popular North Santiam Band of Oregon.

“If I write what my heart says, if I put honest down on paper...those are the best songs. Country music is real and true. I strive to be like country music.”
